A shuttle Bus
You don’t have to wait as long, but there is a shuttle bus that leaves from Connexxion at EUR6.50.
Depending on traffic and other factors, this route will take 30-45 minutes.
Bus 397 will take you to Amsterdam’s city center. It is located at stop B15, just outside Schiphol Plaza’s main station hall.
This option has many advantages. The shuttle bus runs between 5:00 AM and 12:30 AM, so you can always rely on it to be there when you arrive.
You can also use your ticket on any other public transport in Amsterdam. The ride to the city center takes about half an hour. This gives you ample time to take your transfer and reach another area of the city, if necessary.
Tickets can be purchased at the booth of the Public Transport Service near stops B9-B15 or from the driver.
- You can also buy tickets online (Affiliate disclosure) to avoid paying on-site fees.
- You can also take bus number 69 to get to Sloterdijk station for a much lower price.
This service costs EUR3.20 per head and only a 1-hour ticket.
The 40-minute journey will be time-consuming, but it will allow you enough time to catch bus 22 to Amsterdam Central.
Alternativ, you could also use your transfer and hop on tram 12, which will get you to the Museumplein area. You can even save money by not having to pay for individual tickets. Instead, hop on bus 69 and travel around the city.
These day passes can be combined with tourist passes to help you save money on public transport. Please visit our Discount Section for more information.
Car or a Private Van
Many private shuttle services are available in Amsterdam to transport you between Schiphol Airport (and the city center).
You have two options: a car or a luxury van. They offer door-to-door transfers from Amsterdam Airport to any location in the city.
These services are available 24 hours a day, so you can be sure they will pick you up anytime. There are no discounts on airport transfers from Amsterdam to the city center.
This is an excellent alternative if you don’t want to wait for a train or bus and need a break from the crowd. However, you’ll be able to save much more money if you use another type of transfer service.
Many private shuttles will pick you up at the airport and direct you to the vehicle. This saves you the hassle of trying to find your shuttle on your own.
THE HOTEL SHUTTLE MINIBUS
Connexxion offers a minibus shuttle service between Schiphol Airport and your hotel, in addition to line 397. This is an excellent alternative to private shuttles if you need a transfer to take you directly to your hotel.

For groups of 3-8 people, discounts are available. The maximum value for groups of 3-8 people is EUR76 for one-way and EUR128 return.
Tickets can be purchased at the Connexxion desk in Arrivals Hall 4. You can also pay separately at I Amsterdam Visitor Centres and participating hotels
