Yes. When the new travel authorization program goes into effect in 2025, all American citizens will need to apply for an ETIAS waiver visa. The ETIAS visa waiver will replace the existing visa-free regulations. It will be in effect by 2025.
International tourists and border officials will be granted a grace period of six months to allow them to adjust to the new procedures. Before departing for Europe, travelers should complete the online ETIAS application. By 2025, the new travel authorization system should be in place. ETIAS online applications should be submitted no later than 96 hours (4 working days) before departure. This will allow you ample time to complete your application and resolve any issues that may occur during the review process.
It is easy to apply for an ETIAS travel visa. All American citizens must submit an online application via the ETIAS website before they can travel to the Netherlands and any other country in the Schengen region. To file an ETIAS application, you need to have accurate contact information. The online application should take no more than 10 minutes in most cases.
Yes. To be eligible for ETIAS travel authorization, international passengers must have a valid passport. Both biometric and machine-readable passports will be required. Your passport must remain valid for at most three months from the date of your expected arrival. This applies to both citizens of the US and citizens from any other ETIAS-eligible countries. Please visit our homepage for a complete listing.
When applying for ETIAS travel authorizations, all applicants must be over 18 years old. ETIAS is not required for minors and over 70-year-olds. Before you can submit the ETIAS form, you will need to pay the visa waiver fee online. Your application may be held if payment fails to go through.
The current Schengen immigration control system will be replaced by the ETIAS visa waiver program in 2025. A grace period of six to twelve month will be granted depending on the circumstances. This grace period will allow border agents and foreign travelers to seamlessly adjust to the new travel requirements.
Online ETIAS requests are easy. All you need is a valid passport that has biometrics and is not expired. A reliable internet connection, valid email address, enough money to pay the ETIAS fee, and a valid passport. You can complete the application on a tablet, laptop or desktop computer. Both Android and Apple smartphones are compatible with the ETIAS mobile app.
Yes. To travel to ETIAS countries, all eligible visitors (children and adults) must apply for ETIAS visa waivers. The visa waiver will allow them travel within the European Schengen region, starting in 2025 and continuing for the rest of their lives. Children and minors should have their legal guardian or parent complete the ETIAS online application for them. You can find a complete list on our website.
ETIAS can’t replace a national work or study visa. ETIAS includes 60 countries. This online authorization allows nationals of eligible countries to travel. ETIAS visa waivers are valid for travel and tourism up to 90 days. The visa waiver does NOT allow foreigners to study, work or study in the Netherlands or any other Schengen country. You must apply for a visa to study or work in the country.
Before entering any Schengen country, international tourists must complete an ETIAS online application. An applicant with a criminal history may have to go through a slightly different process than someone without one. This includes minor offenses such as shoplifting, driving while intoxicated (DUI), disorderly conduct, loitering, or driving while impaired (DUI). A criminal record may prevent international travelers from entering Europe. ETIAS applications may also be denied. Authorities will request additional information on the criminal history of most applicants. Contact our customer service department for more information.
Yes. American citizens can apply online for ETIAS authorizations to travel from the US and the Netherlands when ETIAS becomes active in 2025. Online application for an ETIAS visa waiver is possible if you are an American.
ETIAS visa waivers are not required for citizens of ETIAS countries. ETIAS countries include Schengen nations plus San Marino, Vatican City, Cyprus, Croatia, Romania, and Bulgaria. These citizens can enter the Schengen region with only their passports. They won’t need to go through the ETIAS prescreening process. Let’s say you are a German citizen and want to travel to the Netherlands. Both these countries are members of ETIAS so you don’t need anything other than a passport or ID card to travel between them. American citizens will need to apply for ETIAS in order to travel to the US. The US is not a Schengen nation and has different immigration and travel rules. ETIAS will be required to travel to the Netherlands for American, Canadian, and Australian citizens. ETIAS will be available to 60 countries. Visit our homepage to see a complete list. ETIAS permits must be obtained no later than 96 hours (4 days) prior to departure.
It all depends on which nationality you have. You don’t need an ETIAS visa waiver if you have dual citizenship in more than one ETIAS country (for example, the US and France). Without an ETIAS, your French passport is sufficient to enter the Schengen region. You should also consider whether you are a dual citizen from two non-Schengen countries. If at least one of the listed countries is eligible, you can apply for an ETIAS Visa Waiver. Consider that you hold dual citizenship in India and the US. Dual citizenship in India and the US allows travelers to use their American passport to apply for ETIAS. To travel to ETIAS countries, an Indian passport would require a Schengen Visa.
